After a week-long break I return with a visual comment to the Winter Olympics. While athletes in Vancouver enjoy almost perfect conditions, the Tanzanian pupils do suffer from a lack of acceptable infrastructure. The ground is concrete. Not nice one. If you run around without any shoes, what you have to as you do not own any nice pair of shoes for playing basketball, you just tear your feet open. A bottle of alcohol will help you disinfect the wound. However, the dangerous ground is no hindrance. To beat the other school, the players risk the integrity of their feet. And the spectators praise them for their courage. In their lives that are so different from ours, this is their little Olympics.
